There is the real vending business, and then there are people salespeople trying to sell you a "vending business opportunity".
We got started in the vending business after attending a business opportunity showcase. It took us some disappointment and mistakes to realize that there was a lot of information missing from the vending opportunities presentation. "The Vending Business" is sometimes slickly packaged by the bizop guys and usually presented in a seminar, slick magazine ad or internet website. They get you counting all that change and dreaming of all that cash, instead of focusing on the basics of running a vending business.
Why?
Running a vending business ISN'T glamorous! It actually requires some work. It is sometimes hard, and it’s a REAL business. The "business opportunity promoters" sell the idea of "making hundreds and hundreds of dollars per hour WILE YOU SLEEP!" It's a very desirable, emotional sales technique. We'll admit it. We fell for it! The emotional pitch is what is sold us when we decided to spend to much money on a "vending business opportunity package".
Please, if you have been to a vending seminar, or answered a magazine or newspaper ad, do some research on the actual business. Find out about the vending business and don't solely rely on the information from the vending opportunities.

Dear Rob
Got your book.... We had 12 machines we were running that ended up costing us about $350 a month, not including our time and gas money. 2 of the ideas in your package helped get this thing turned around. We're doing a little better than break even now. .......and I get mad at what I think we could be doing if we'd gotten this first. Your ebook is worth thousands. Thanks.

Don't limit your snack machines products to just snacks!
We did well with putting "other" products in based on taking a broader look at the location. For example, toothbrushes (hotel), laundry soap (trucking company), baseball cards (apartment complex), and other personal toiletries. Be creative!
